Largo, Maryland – As the local community and nation continue to confront the surge in COVID-19 cases, the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) is temporarily suspending Curbside Service from December 21, 2020 through January 12, 2021. The Library’s buildings will be closed to staff during this period to ensure their and customers’ safety. Curbside Service is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
The public health conditions right now require that we adjust operations to keep staff and customers safe during the surge. The Library is grateful to the Board of Library Trustees and Prince George’s County Health Department for their input in developing this plan,” said Roberta Phillips, the Library’s CEO. “I encourage the community to stock up on library materials through Curbside Service prior to December 19 and to enjoy our robust online library from the comfort of home.”
Library staff will telework during the temporary suspension period, continuing to serve customers through the Ask a Librarian/Biblio Consulta service, the online library, and social media. The Ask a Librarian/Biblio Consulta service will operate with modified hours: Monday-Friday, 1-5 pm. Customers may contact Library staff at (240) 455-5451 or askalibrarian@pgcmls.info for assistance with resources, questions about services, and customer account updates. Temporary call center hours will end on Friday, January 8 and regular call center hours will resume on Tuesday, January 12 at 1 pm.
All physical materials checked-out from the Library will have a new due date of February 2, 2021 (excluding interlibrary loans, which are handled separately). Book drops will be unavailable for returns following the close of business on December 19, 2020. They will reopen on January 12, 2021.

Live virtual programs will be on a holiday break from December 23, 2020 through January 10, 2021. Customers can enjoy their favorite virtual programs on demand and many programs will be featured daily on social media and are available 24/7 at youtube.com/PGCMLS.
